We look forward to hosting your unit during the upcoming months!
Welcome to the Horseshoe Scout Reservation's short term, weekend camping website. The following pages have been developed to assist unit leaders in the process of making weekend reservations for both camps Ware and Horseshoe during the fall, winter and spring camping seasons. In addition, you will find that this site provides the information you will need regarding the facilities which are available to the Packs, Troops, Venture Crews and groups who look forward to a safe and enjoyable weekend in the great outdoors.
The outdoor camping experience is not just for the warm summer months . . . The Chester County Council Horseshoe Scout Reservation offers weekend camping opportunities late September through the month of May. During the weekend camping season our two camps, Horseshoe and Ware, offer the use of shooting sport ranges, slingshot paint ball range, archery range (Camp Ware), bouldering wall (Camp Ware), many hiking trails, backcountry leave-no-trace campsites as well as ranger staff that can help your Scouts complete a variety of merit badges (prior arrangements required). For packs it offers the perfect opportunity to meet the camp-out requirement that is now part of each rank Cub Scouts. Use the links below to explore our camps and make your reservation.
Continue to the Make-a-Reservation page for additional information as well as complete your reservation.
Our goal is to simply streamline the reservation process and, by utilizing online technology, we can accomplish this task quite easily. The following web pages contain updated and current information such as the reservation calendar showing a month by month chart of the current availability of HSR's cabins and campsites, the required forms and paperwork for checking in and out of camp, contact phone numbers, email addresses and a convenient, easy to use online reservation procedure.
Please keep in mind prior to making a reservation that in accordance with the Boy Scouts of America's Guide to Safe Scouting, Cub Scouts are not permitted to participate in "winter camping". The CCCBSA defines winter camping as sleeping outdoors in a tent, Adirondack or any other un-heated shelter. For all Cub and Webelos Scouts, camping in a tent, Adirondack or un-heated structure from the period of November 15th through March 15th is not permitted. In addition, if a pack outing is conducted during the months when tent camping is permitted, other
accommodations or arrangements must be made if the outside, overnight temperature is forecasted to fall below 45°. At all times however, Cub scouts are permitted to "cabin camp". A cabin is defined as a four walled, heated hard covered structure.
Again, my sincerest thanks for your interest in the Horseshoe Scout Reservation's weekend camping program. Should you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to contact us
