Cub Scout BB Rangemaster Certification

BSA requires all Cub Scout shooting sports (including Cub Scout archery, BB guns, wrist rockets/slingshots, catapults or rockets) to be supervised by a BSA certified range master. . This training  covers setting up a range, safety, handling equipment, maintaining and storing equipment, and instructing Scouts. This certification is valid for two years from the course completion date.

BALOO - Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation

Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO) is a one-day training event that introduces parents and leaders to the skills needed to plan and conduct pack outdoor activities, particularly pack camping, that are safe, meaningful, and fun.

PARTICIPANTS WHO COMPLETE THIS TRAINING COURSE WILL:

  • Understand the focus of the CUb Scout level of the BSA outdoor program.
  • Gain the skills needed to plan and carry out a succesfful Cub Scout-level overnight activity.
  • Learn more about the resources available from the BSA for carrying out this activity.

This training is required for any adult who is in charge of planning a pack campout.

Location: Troop 191 Cabin - 700 Pomeroy Avenue, Avondale, PA 19311

Time: 8:00am to 4:00pm

$5 Fee includes lunch.

Please note: It is now mandatory for any person who operates a chainsaw on the Horseshoe Scout Reservation to have successfully completed the Chainsaw Safety Training Program as per the Boy Scouts of America and the Chester County Council.

Session class sizes are limited.
Pre-registration is required.

Start Time: 9 a.m.
Location: HSR Training Facility – Magua Lodge (House on the left prior to going down into Camp Ware)
Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be in good physical condition
Must be registered with the Boy Scouts of America

Course Length: Approximately 3 – 4 hours (depending on class size)

The HSR program will incorporate safe chainsaw operation and tree felling procedures as outlined by the U.S. Forest Service and the BSA National Camp School Ranger section.

2018 NYLT Staff Interview

In order to be considered for Youth Staff at Spring 2018 NYLT, please complete this application and submit to Chris Mulhall, NYLT Scoutmaster, by October 27th, 2017.

On Saturday, November 11th, we'll be doing an "interview" at Camp Ware for those who are interested in joining the team. Applicants will be asked to prepare, ahead of time, a five minute presentation on a Scouting related topic using a three ring binder as a stand. Applicants will also be put through team building exercises and asked to prepare a presentation on site.

This is a one day event, start and end time to be determined. Please bring a lunch.

Every Life Scout who might start an Eagle Scout project in the next 18 months should be there. Pass the word! For more information click here.  

An important Life-to-Eagle Seminar will be offered to all Scouts in Chester County Council interested in becoming Eagle Scouts. Learn about the requirements, process, and paperwork required at this seminar. It is open to all Scouts in the council. Not only Scouts and their parents, but Scoutmasters, Eagle Project Coaches, and Eagle Advisers are encouraged to attend. Even if you have been to a Life-to-Eagle seminar before, there is always more you can learn about the current process and details. No pre-registration is required.

Chester County Council is excited to offer the 2018 Merit Badge College! Boy Scouts will have the opportunity to earn up to four non-Eagle merit badges (or three Eagle-required) by completing pre-requisites in advance of the first session, completing additional requirements between the two sessions and attending and participating in the two Saturday class events.

Merit Badge Counselors and support volunteers are needed to make this event a success! If you can volunteer, please send an email to: MeritBadgeCollege@cccbsa.org. Sons of volunteers will be able to register early!

There will also be fun games and more that is still in the making under planning at the moment, but more information will come out as we get closer to the event!
